Dogs Most Likely To Bite

July 16th, 2007

Having filed many dog bite lawsuits and taken them to the mat I know a little about dog bite law and dog bite injury cases in Oregon. Your dog bite case settlement value will depend on the facts of the bite, the severity and permanent nature of the scar and the type of dog who did the biting.

The CDC (Center For Disease Control) lists these breeds in declining order of fatalities: Pit Bull, Rottweiler, German Shepherd, Husky, Malamute, Doberman Pinscher, Chow Chow, Great Dane, Saint Bernard.

Depending upon the breed some homeowners insurance companies have even excluded certain breeds like some of the dogs in CDC’s list.

Dog Attacks In Oregon

July 15th, 2007

In handling injury cases like dog bite cases it seems that the dog bite attack numbers rise in Oregon in the summer. People including a lot of kids get bit and the worse bites usually are to the face.

Children suffer facials scar and lacerations often to the face because they are short and most of the dogs which bite tend to be larger dogs or those dogs with large haunches.

Animal control offices vary within Oregon’s different counties. Most urban animal control offices such as in Multnomah County tend to be in my opinion more of an advocate for the dog bite victim rather than some of the rural counties such as those in eastern Oregon. Of course the facts in any dog bite case are important and such issues as prior acts of the dog’s aggression, notice of prior bite problems, or a provable history of owners having a loose dog will add strength to any dog bite injury case in Oregon.

Rotator Cuff Tears

July 14th, 2007

A rotator cuff tear is an injury to the muscular ligaments of the shoulder.
Rotator cuff tears can be full or partial tears. Rotator cuff tears are usually identified in an MRI. Rotator cuff injuries can involve any type of irritation or damage to your rotator cuff muscles or tendons. These injuries can occur during car accidents.

Having handled multiple rotator cuff injuries in Oregon and Washington State I can say that tears whether partial or full impact the car accident victim significantly.
Rotator cuff tear cases usually involve wage loss claims because people usually cant work their jobs because they have job related impairment.

Rotator cuff tears can be fixed with heavy physical therapy or in certain cases with surgery.
One rotator cuff tear case that I handled in Oregon involved an elderly man with an arm that was withered from a birth defect.

Because our client’s birth defect he faced a difficult surgery recovery period. His birth defect was in one arm, while the other arm received the rotator cuff injury. We also recovered about $4,000.00 for money he paid to have his grass cut. We recovered a full policy limits uninsured motorist award at an arbitration.

The key focus in any rotator cuff injury case should, in my opinion, be on the effect the injury had on their life style before and after the car accident.
